Chef Jamey Fader at Lola, 1575 Boulder Street, likes what happens when people meet over the spectacle of food. That’s evident in his changing menus as well as in the preparation and presentation of his beautiful and delicious everyday dishes. But even with seasonal menus, there’s still a certain strain that comes with delivering the same picture-perfect dishes, day after day.

So Fader came up with the Pull Up a Seat Dinner Series, a nine-part, intimate winter dinner series with special dishes, special guests (including fellow chefs Matt Selby and Tyler Wiard, among others), regional menus and tequila socials. “I love what I do, but there’s a difference between Lola the restaurant and Jamey the chef,” he says. “This is me getting to play. It’s important to have that outlet; a little frivolity is a good thing in these days.

“This is a way for people to socialize, to get through the winter dog days by sitting down and dining together,” Fader adds. And the December third feast, a Mexican Comfort Food Dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m., fit that bill in every way: “This is about what I love making at home, about comfort food. I set out by asking folks, ‘What did your mom make? What did your grandma make?’ I’m not talking about on a special night — just on a regular night at home. I took those ideas and turned them into a dinner.” Yum, can’t wait. Here’s to chow!

Each meal begins at 6:30 p.m.; for reservations and more information about the series, visit www.loladenver.com or call 720-570-8686.
