Serious blogging is a world unto itself. There’s the main story, of course, but each story is also punctuated with links and pictures and videos. Enough! For an easily distracted flake with a compulsion to finish reading and listening to everything he starts, there is nothing more maddening. And these guys and girls know each other and link to each other and comment — I forgot the comments! — so much that it’s impossible to find your way to the end of any of it. Of course, this fosters a more organic medium (blah, blah, blah) than any we’ve seen so far, democratizing the shit out of the opinion highway. It also — apparently — connects people to one another in unexpected ways.
Rocky Mountain Blogger Bash 5000: Donkeys Over Denver, the latest (and largest) installment of a local blogger meet-up, is perfect for these keepers of the keyboard. “We get together three or four times a year for the last five years,” says media contact Mr. Lady. “We exchange baby pictures and argue politics. With the DNC coming up and one blogger from each state credentialed, we figured, why don’t we have a big one and feed them all beer? It’s not formal.” The fun starts tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Trios Enoteca, 1730 Wynkoop Street; admission is free. For more information, e-mail heymrlady@gmail.com.
