Back in December, fast-food workers rallied in Denver to demand a $15 hourly wage — part of a nationwide campaign dubbed Fight for 15.
Yesterday, another Fight for 15 event was staged at a McDonald’s near the Auraria campus — one of what organizers say were 236 similar events across the country.
And this time around, the demonstrators, which backers estimate as peaking at 1,000, included many folks who aren’t part of the fast-food industry.
Included among them were home-care workers, janitors, Walmart employees and adjunct professors, who’ve modified the Fight for 15 slogan to call for $15,000 per course — much more than many colleges are currently paying.
