Prior to Super Bowl Sunday, the Denver Police Department announced tactics to combat celebrations gone too far in the event of a Broncos victory.

Unfortunately, a win wasn’t in the cards for Denver — yet cops deployed near the Metro State campus as part of the plan wound up responding to a related act of violence anyway, owing to a post-Super Bowl party shooting near 14th and Kalamath that left a man in critical condition. Here’s what we know thus far.

This is an early tweet about the incident from the DPD Twitter feed….

According to information provided by DPD spokesman Sonny Jackson to 9News, a suspect is thought to have fled the area on foot.

Thus far, there’s been neither information about an arrest or witness descriptions of the shooter. As such, he’s considered to be at large, as well as presumably armed and dangerous.

As for the victim, he’s said to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. At last report, he was in critical condition.
