A firkin, in case you were wondering, is a small cask that holds about eleven gallons of liquid — beer, if you’re lucky. Epic Brewing had fifty of the little casks, each with a unique beer made by Epic, on hand last night to celebrate the first anniversary of the brewery in the RiNo neighborhood. Photographer Brandon Marshall was there to capture the beer sampling.

Ticketholders were given a seven-ounce tasting glass and access to the pours, which included Mid Mountain Mild Ale with cascara coffee cherries, Hopulent IPA with sweet orange peel, Hop Syndrome Lager with coriander and Capt’n Crompton’s Pale ale with whole leaf Cascade hops and grapefruit.
