Denver’s Judaism Your Way strives to be all-inclusive during the holidays and all year long, which is just one way the alternative Jewish organization departs from the norm this time of year, when Jewish families are looking for a place to celebrate Hanukkah with others like themselves.

“We’re not a membership organization, like a congregation,” explains spokeswoman Sierra Shaffer. “While most Hanukkah parties are just for members of a congregation, ours is open to everyone. More specifically, that includes people who may not be affiliated with a congregation or who might be new to the Denver Jewish community. We also welcome interfaith families.” Therefore, this year’s Light Up Your Hanukkah festival invites anyone and everyone to participate in the event, though it targets young Jewish families with kids in elementary school (CAJE Jewish Explorers, a cultural-enrichment program for youngsters, is a co-sponsor).

“But we usually end up with a diverse group of people, who come because they want to be more involved in a Jewish community,” notes Shaffer.

Be part of the group: Enjoy live music, crafts and hot latkes with others today from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Central Park Recreation Center, 9651 East Martin Luther King Boulevard in Stapleton. Admission is $10 to $12 (children under three admitted free), with a $50 maxi-mum charge per family. Register in advance at judaismyourway.org.

Sun., Dec. 14, 2-4 p.m., 2014
