Denver District Attorney’s Office release:
A 17-year-old male is currently being held at the Gilliam Youth Center for investigation of 2nd degree kidnapping and sexual assault.An allegation was made on February 25th that this juvenile forcibly led a 14-year-old girl to an area of John F. Kennedy High School and sexually assaulted her. Denver Public School officials and the Denver Police Department were involved immediately, and he was arrested later that day.
The case has been presented to the Denver DA’s Office, and the juvenile has made an initial appearance in court where probable cause has been found to hold him on the tentative charges. He has not been formally charged yet. A decision on charges is not expected to be announced until Friday morning.
