Fans of dystopian novels and sci-fi/fantasy, look out: Young-adult fiction writers Margaret Stohl, author of Beautiful Creatures, and Veronica Roth, author of the Divergent series, will be talking about their work tonight at the Tattered Cover Highlands Ranch.
Stohl’s newest book, Idols, is her sequel to Icons. “It’s an emotional thriller set in a futuristic Southeast Asia occupied by an alien race. It’s about what happens when four gifted teens decide to use their very human strengths to fight back. I actually wrote it in the jungle near Chiang Mai, Thailand, so it all seems terrifyingly real to me,” she says.
Roth’s latest, Four: A Divergent Collection, is a series of stories written from the perspective of Tobias “Four” Eaton, a major character from the Divergent series, which has now come to an end. “Right now I’m just watching the second movie, Insurgent, come together. It will be in theaters in March 2015. As far as my writing goes, though, I’m just enjoying a little break — still writing, but just playing around with some ideas and excited to see where they take me,” Roth says.
The conversation begins tonight at 7 p.m. at the Tattered Cover in Highlands Ranch, 9315 Dorchester Street. For more information, call 303-322-1965 or go to tatteredcover.com.
