The Flobots’ Jamie Laurie.

Not every blog posted on our site today is DNC-related — but it’s not for a lack of trying.

Backbeat Online offers a take on the big 3Oh!3 show at the Fox Theatre at which a bunch o’ new bandmembers debuted. The critique is a convention-free zone — but not so word of a rescheduled Public Enemy gig or reviews of the New Orleans All-Star Jam-Balaya (supplemented by bonus Q&As with The Meters’ George Porter Jr. and String Cheese Incident alum Kyle Hollingsworth) or a DNC media party at Elitch Gardens. This last bash co-starred the Flobots, this week’s Westword cover kids.

Many more DNC doings are on display in Demver. Click over to read about a Method Man sighting, plus photo captions that tell much of the DNC story to date, a batch of convention street scenes, and your introduction to the “Protect Yourself From John McCain” condom. One size fits all.

Even The Cat’s Pajamas is in a DNC frame of mind, paying tribute to a designer who displayed fashions made out of plastic grocery bags at yesterday’s Green Frontier Fest. But not Cafe Society, which is more interested in Keebler Cookie Crunch cereal. Too bad those elves aren’t working harder to earn your vote. — Michael Roberts
