Standup comedy isn’t just for freewheeling, up-all-night youngsters with no limits or responsibilities. Sometimes the in-by-ten mommies deserve a night of cocktails and belly laughs, too, says comedian Shayna Ferm, creator of the Pump & Dump comedy night.
“Because of my own fucked-up experiences as a new mom, I thought a show like this would be a great opportunity to target that audience and provide a place to commiserate, celebrate our fails and drink them away,” says Ferm, who built a following in the Highland neighborhood but moves to Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret tonight. While the theme of the show is about running a family, Ferm stresses that “this is not a family event. We talk a lot about children, but they are not welcome. We drink. We swear. We are pretty inappropriate.”
As ever, the show’s staples include Emergency C-Section shots, a round of Never Have I Ever: Mommy Edition, and Stump the Gyno trivia with Stephanie Ring. Tonight’s edition features a daddy headliner with Grawlix comedian Andrew Orvedahl.
