It’s the perfect time of year for chili, and MaxFund’s annual Chili Cook-Off will be a great place to taste red, green and vegetarian chilis on Sunday. In the meantime, there’s the all-important Valentine’s Day and much more happening; here’s a taste of what’s on the menu:

Tuesday, February 14:

Mezcal, 3230 East Colfax Avenue, hosts a Couples Taco-Eating Contest open to seven couples (there is a $30 entry fee per couple). The winners get a taco trophy and a gift card, and all participants receive a T-shirt and a free margarita. It starts at 6 p.m.; call 303-322-5219.

Wednesday, February 15:

Izakaya Den, 1518 South Pearl Street, presents Sliced!, a sushi-making class featuring chefs from Sushi Den and Izakaya Den; after class, sit for a meal that includes sushi, miso soup and green tea. It starts at 6:30 p.m. and costs $70; call 303-777-0691 or visit www.izakayaden.net.
