Just now, a dude called and said, “Jason Sheehan wrote a review about some Vietnamese restaurant last week.”
I said, “Uh-huh. Pho 99.”
He said, “Was it?”
I said, “I’m pretty sure. Yup.”
“Are you sure?” he asked.
Of course I was sure, but to appease him, I said, “Pretty sure. But hold on.”
Then I flipped to Jason’s review of Pho 99 in last week’s newspaper and said, “Yup. It’s Pho 99. Would you like the address?”
He said, “Yes.”
I told him the address and then he said (wait for it….wait for it), “Hmmm…really? Are you sure? I don’t think that’s the right place.”
I said, “Okay. You want the Vietnamese restaurant that Jason reviewed last week, right?”
“Right.”
I said, “Uh-huh. Well, I read his review last week, which is why I was able to immediately identify the restaurant he reviewed last week as being Pho 99. And, moreover, I’m looking at his review right now in order to give you the address of the restaurant he reviewed last week. Which was Pho 99.”
The caller breathed hard, sighed and said, “Okay. Well… Thanks, I guess.”
