Chocolate is probably the closest we’ll ever come to the food of the gods — and Dana Cain celebrates the delectable confection every year with the Colorado Chocolate Festival, which today returns to the Denver Merchandise Mart, 451 East 58th Avenue, with celebrity guests, vendors, guest speakers, live music, events, demos, contests and more.

Tonight’s gala preview features wine and chocolate tastings, a cash bar, the chocolate wedding cake competition and more. It runs from 6 to 10 p.m.; admission is $12.

The biggest chunk of this cacao-loving festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow; admission is $3 for kids ages five through twelve and $5 for adults; kids four and younger get in free. Visit www.chocolate-festival.org.
