Of all of the holidays to be alone, Valentine’s Day can be the suckiest. But the heartbroken, the bitter and the angry are all welcome to celebrate in anti-V-Day fashion at tonight’s Scorned Lover’s Art and Show and Event at the Art Salon.
The art space — which will be showing pieces curated around love and loss — honors the grief-stricken with an impassioned party featuring a broken-heart revenge shooting gallery, a peep show, live poetry, love-letter and “sexting” readings and more.
“Valentine’s Day tends to be one of those holidays that isolates a lot of people and makes them feel bad about not being with someone. This is a way for the disenfranchised to celebrate,” says event organizer Jennifer Mosquera. And what better way to party the love blues away than by beating the hell out of a bleeding-heart pinata or sticking pins into a seven-foot-tall voodoo doll?
Doors to the Art Salon, 2219 East 21nd Avenue, open at 7 p.m., with readings and activities beginning around 8. Valentine’s-themed sweet treats will be provided, but this party is BYO-beverages. For more information, go to www.artsalondenver.com.
