Denver will get its second new brewery later this summer when the Caution: Brewing Company opens in a warehouse near I-70 and Peoria Street.
Caution owners Danny and Betty Wang will be using Odell Brewing’s original five-barrel brewing system (and the namesake of its 5 Barrel Pale Ale), which they bought last year from the Fort Collins company.
But the couple will use it to take on an unusual niche: lighter beers that complement Asian food.
“It’s an untapped market,” says Danny, whose parents own Lao Wang Noodle House at 945 South Federal Boulevard. “There is an Asian restaurant in every strip mall, if not two. Most have liquor licenses and pretty good sales. We want to hit that market.”

While Caution will make an IPA, a honey brown and other traditional craft beers, the Wangs are also planning a blonde ale made with wild rice.
“It’s going away from the hoppy and bitter beers,” Danny says. “It will be crisp and refreshing, something a little different.” They also plan to put their own twist on other beers by using dried spices that are also used in Asian cooking.
Caution, 12445 East 39th Avenue, unit 314, won’t have a tap room – the Wangs will only sell kegs to restaurants – but they hope to have something on the market by late summer.
“We’re starting small,” Danny adds, “but the big beer houses like Rackhouse and Falling Rock are always interested in checking out new stuff.
Strange Brewing Company, founded by two former Denver Newspaper Agency employees, opened May 19 at 1330 Zuni Street.
