The City of Aurora is conducting a survey through August 31, asking people what should be done with the Aurora Century 16, the theater where twelve people died when a gunman opened fire during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises; the results will be shared with Cinemark, owner of the theater.
Many other communities have had to decide what to do with the sites of tragedies; responses have ranged from minor to major. On our Latest Word site yesterday, Michael Roberts recapped the history of ten attacks — and what happened to the places where they occurred.
Says Brittany:
Keep it open but turn theater 9 into a memorial and have it a special place of remembrance and let people enjoy batman clips from all the movies showing all the time in there! The victims were there enjoying one of their favorite super hero let that super hero be a part of that theater.
