In the eyes of comedian Billy Gardell, life isn’t that complex, and there’s plenty of joy to be found in simple pleasures like drinking, bad food and giving people you love a hard time. His material mines a down-to-earth, common-sense vein of comedy based on his blue-collar Pittsburgh roots. From his rowdy adolescence to his more recently domesticated home life, it’s classic material that’s easily appreciated by anyone not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. That material — combined with a laid-back, affable delivery — has led to a successful career that includes a busy touring schedule, a Comedy Central special this year and appearances on My Name Is Earl, Desperate Housewives, CSI and other popular television shows.
Gardell performs tonight at 8 and 10:15 p.m. at the Denver Improv, 8246 East 49th Avenue. To purchase tickets, $15, or for additional info, dates and showtimes, visit www.symfonee.com/improv or call 303-307-1777.
