“I started Green Spaces because I wanted to have a space for all these different green and socially-conscious entrepreneurs to work together and share ideas,” says Jennie Nevin, the company’s founder and a former senior investment specialist at Merrill Lynch who opened the first Green Spaces in New York City in 2008. “About a year-and-a-half after starting it, I moved to Denver. We were looking at opening up around the country, which we’re now looking at again. We’re looking at places in California, Florida and on the East Coast.”
And why was the first offshoot here? “It seemed like there was a lot of entrepreneurial activity happening in Denver,” Nevin notes. “It also had a good lifestyle. So, I felt like it had the right mix.”
The anniversary party will include live-streaming video from both the Denver and New York locations, a brief history of the company, a live band, a live painter and a silent auction. Proceeds from the auction will benefit GreenLeaf, a local nonprofit and member of Green Spaces that engages Denver youth in urban agriculture projects.
The party is free for Green Spaces members, and open to the public at $20 per ticket — but that includes food and drink, plus an after-party at the Meadowlark. If you’re interested in attending, you can RSVP on the eventbrite page.
