Closed: Fritangas, a modest little Mexican joint at 2505 Federal Boulevard that had won a lot of fans with its authentic food.

Coming: In the former home of Fritangas, yet another Mexican joint, Las Parrallida. The “grand opening banner” is up, but there’s no word on when it will open — and the parking lot still has spaces reserved for an even earlier restaurant tenant, Lienso Charro.

But there’s no reason to go hungry on this block. Because right across the street is Jack-n-Grill, at 2524 Federal. And unlike Fritangas (and likely its successor), Jack has a liquor license.
