Leave it to a town like Lyons to come up with the Lyons Outdoor Games, a multi-sport event that just keeps getting bigger and better each year. “This year, the bike events are going to be a lot larger than they’ve ever been,” notes spokeswoman Jen Booth. “The biggest addition is that we’ve done an entire dirt-jump park, and we’re going to have both experts and pro riders doing demonstrations and competitions.” Other events include competitions and clinics for whitewater freestyle kayaking, creek boating, biking, fly-fishing and even a competition for the dogs — so bring your pooch!
Gear exhibits and vendors are also part of the fun; don’t miss the kick-off party today at 5:30 p.m., which will feature live bluegrass, a screening of adventure film The Lost World, Hotel Charley Vol. 3 and delicious food from Oskar Blues, which is sponsoring the activities. The Games continue through Sunday; visit www.lyonsoutdoorgames.com or call 303-823-8250.
