Paul Krugman might not be everybody’s cup of tea — there are those who argue that his biweekly op-ed column in the New York Times is more partisan than academic — but the man’s got brains, and you can’t argue with that. A professor of economics and international affairs at Princeton University, Krugman is an outspoken critic of the Bush administration; his 2003 collection of his columns, The Great Unraveling, posited that the large deficits generated by George W. Bush and company (including decreased taxes, increased public spending and that pesky war in Iraq) would generate a major economic crisis. Krugman’s no psychic, but he does know his stuff when it comes to unsustainable economic practices.
