This week in Cafe Society, critic Gretchen Kurtz plunged into the great barbecue debate after visiting to Kings BBQ. For Chef and Tell, we checked in with Alex Seidel about the status of his new restaurant, Mercantile Dining & Provision, which will be opening around Labor Day in the newly refurbished Union Station that opens tomorrow, with a trainload of new restaurants. Also this week, chef DJ Nagle of Humboldt showed us how to make his bacon-rich burger, which we’d named Best Burger the Best of Denver 2014. Udi’s changed the name of all its restaurants to either Silvi’s, Etai’s and Izzio. And we counted down the top five weirdest new fetish foods, including gummy bear sausage. Also in the news:
