Traffic congestion on southbound Broadway after the first day of the work week is no fun. Instead of the road rage you’re bound to encounter, wouldn’t you rather just dance? The folks over at Blue Ice are betting you would, which is why they’re hosting La Practica Tango Happy Hour at the bar, 22 Broadway, every Monday. Food and drink specials run from 4 to 6 p.m., with free tango lessons from 6 to 7, followed by $5 tango classes for both beginning and advanced dancers. No partners are necessary, and once class is dismissed, there’s open dancing for everyone.
“The thing that’s really unique about Blue Ice is that it feels and looks just like a milonga in Buenos Aires,” says tango teacher Roberta Farley, who’s been teaching for eight years.
Sure beats rush hour.
