If you’re happy with your Bud Light, then more power to you. But if you’re interested in the rise of craft breweries across the county over the years and ways that these small businesses battled mega-brewers for shelf space, then check out Beer Wars, a documentary airing simultaneously in 440 theaters across the country for one night only.
To make things more interesting, the screening will be followed by the broadcast of a live panel discussion from Los Angeles with Beer Wars maker Anat Baron, actor Ben Stein, and some of the microbrew execs and experts featured in the film.
“I wanted to start a conversation, and using the live-event format seemed right for this,” writes Baron — who spent $500,000 to make Beer Wars — in an e-mail. “Audiences can watch the film and then hear directly from the subjects in the film about their thoughts on the movie (it’ll be their first time seeing it too) and the issues.”
Beer Wars will run at 6 p.m. at fifteen Colorado theaters, including the Denver Pavilions 15 and the Century 16 at Belmar in Lakewood. For a full list of addresses and to buy tickets, $15, log on to www.fathomevents.com.
