The Denver Nuggets 2024-2025 season is kicking into high gear, with the team’s first theme night on November 2 and the second on Monday, November 4. The team is starting strong with theme nights, too, with Native American Heritage Night and a Grateful Dead-centered evening as the first two on schedule.
For Native American Heritage Night, the Nuggets gave away posters designed by a local Indigenous artist and had a drum circle prepared as the halftime show. Grateful Dead night will have a Shakedown Street pre-game concert, and those who buy Grateful Dead ticket packages will have access to an exclusive jersey and ticket design that mixes the famous Grateful Dead bears, tie-dye and Nuggets colors.
Denver (and Boulder, even more so) has long been a welcoming home to jam bands, and the Dead could be the most popular of them all. With the recent passing of Grateful Dead founding member Phil Lesh, the night is sure to be an emotional one.
The theme nights keep coming this season, with Pride Night on Friday, November 8. Similar to Native American Heritage Night, the team will be giving away a poster designed by an LGBTQ+ artist and have a Pride-themed halftime show.
The Nuggets have seventeen theme nights planned for the season. In addition, there are five 5280 nights, when the team celebrates fans and alumni who help give the Nuggets such impressive home-court numbers.
On 5280 nights, the team and the Nuggets Dancers will don the 2024-2025 edition of the team’s City Connect jerseys. Leaked images show that this year’s Nuggets jersey depicts a mountaintop painted in rainbow colors inside “5280” on the front, with more rainbow mountainous shapes running up the sides. The first time the team will wear those jerseys is November 25.
The team is also highlighting its two NBA Cup Group Play games, on November 27 and December 3, as theme nights. Those games are part of the NBA In-Season Tournament, which is entering its second year and elevates certain games as NBA Cup matchups. The teams that do the best in those group play games will have the chance to compete for the in-season tournament title on December 17.
Other notable theme nights include a game in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 15, Serbian Heritage Night (sure to be important to Nuggets MVP and proud Serb Nikola Jokic) and a birthday night on March 28 for Nuggets mascot Rocky.
